From the Pages of THE TON #4

I first met Kenneth “Bobcat” Wright (Kenny) on a motorcycle run. I had, of course, heard stories about the mad scientist from Germany and had even seen his bikes at shows. But until then I had yet to meet him. Lots of memories are a bit foggy from that night, but I do clearly remember his charm, intelligence, and positive outlook as everyone partied early into the morning – or late into the night depending on how you look at it. As the party was about to reach its peak Kenny exclaims, “My nipples are like fucking dynamite!”; the lasting memory before the party faded and people crashed.

Throughout the 1990s I walked a fine line in many circles as someone who was at once both a “mod” and a “rocker”. We colloquially called such people “mockers” in the pacific northwest.

The One Moto Show

In its ninth year the One Moto Show (aka 1moto) offers something for everyone. The show celebrates the old, weird, rare, custom and unconventional in the motorcycle world from extreme forks, sleek drag racers, chopped scooters, and period correct restorations.

Paradise Road Show

I had no previous intentions of going to the second Paradise Road Show – to be honest, I had only a passing awareness of the first one. I was just riding back from seeing LA’s legendary Flesheaters at Pappy’s, and had time to kill in Palm Springs before heading back to Washington.
